"Inspiration exists. But it has to find you working." -Picasso
Alison joined LLB in January of 2015 and she's already become totally invaluable. She's also super-cheerful, courageous and creative, you will love working with her!
About Alison: "I'm a writer and an artist and an enthusiastic baker of pies.
I received my MFA in Fiction at UVA, and studied English and Art History at Williams College. Before moving to Charlottesville, I was a lower school art teacher--so fun and rewarding! My favorite piece of furniture is my flat file. My favorite author is George Saunders and my favorite painter is Euan Uglow.
My favorite color is something I'll call "leaf sunlit from behind." My least favorite color is beige--but I love white, and I understand that often a neutral is exactly what's needed.
I love my job at La Linea Bella. I love the visual stimulation. I love the variation in the days. I love building with my hands--and love how using the hands can free the mind to productively wander.
My goals for the next year: Publish my first short story. Find some meaningful artistic outlet that allows me to work with children. Make enough paintings for a show (and frame them myself at La Linea Bella!). Ride roller coasters. Grow tomatoes. Spend more time outside. And work harder."
Next time you are at LLB, say hello to Alison!
